The Ducor Institute for Social and Economic Research is a Liberian-led think tank established in 2022 by a group of experienced researchers, policy practitioners, and activists. With decades of collective experience spanning government, academia, NGOs, and the private sector, the Institute is dedicated to producing rigorous, evidence-based research to inform policy, drive advocacy, and support socio-economic development.

Ducor works across a broad range of themes – from global health to governance, education, and gender equity – and engages with government bodies, NGOs, civil society, and the private sector.

The name Ducor originates from the indigenous name for the area surrounding the mouth of the Mesurado River, now Monrovia, Liberia’s capital.

Challenges

As a newly established organisation with a powerful mission, the Ducor Institute needed a digital presence that would reflect its credibility, purpose, and ambitions. Their objective was to build a website that would resonate with multiple audiences – from policymakers and funders to local communities – while communicating trust, accessibility, and authority.

They also wanted the site to reflect the breadth and depth of their work, capturing their unique identity and positioning them as a respected voice in Liberia’s policy landscape.

Our Approach

To help bring their vision to life, we designed and built a new website from the ground up – a professional, content-rich platform that not only showcases the Institute’s areas of specialisation, but also invites engagement across sectors and communities.

The site was developed to be responsive, accessible and easy to navigate, ensuring it works well for both local and international users. We worked closely with the Ducor team to understand their core messages and structured the site to clearly present their mission, vision, and research themes – including peacebuilding, youth participation, environmental governance, and gender equity.

We also took care to incorporate cultural elements and storytelling – including the origins of the Institute’s name – to create a digital space that feels rooted, relevant and impactful.

Results

The new website provides a strong foundation for the Ducor Institute’s future communications and engagement efforts. It allows them to:

  • Share timely updates, research outputs, and policy briefs
  • Strengthen visibility with key stakeholders across Liberia and beyond
  • Position themselves as a credible, trusted platform for evidence-based policy dialogue

The current website is considered a work in progress, with plans for further development based on user feedback and site traffic. The Ducor Institute has expressed their intent to return to HG Marketing for future updates and enhancements, ensuring the site continues to evolve in step with their mission.
