The Brain Charity

Case Study: The Brain Charity

Client Overview

The Brain Charity opened in Liverpool in 1993 out of the recognition there was no support for patients with neurological conditions, they have since grown to a team of 52 members of staff and 53 active volunteers. Supporting over 600 neurological conditions The Brain Charity help people with all forms of neurological condition to lead longer, healthier, happier lives. Through their efforts, they empower individuals, raise awareness, and foster inclusivity.

Challenges

At the time, the marketing and communications team was navigating a transition, with interim arrangements between marketing managers and fewer marketing staff than usual. This created a need for additional support to keep operations running smoothly. To help bridge the gap, our team provided strategic days of dedicated assistance each week, working closely with the in-house team to maintain momentum.

They also thought their printed materials had begun to feel outdated and wanted a refreshed look to better reflect their evolving brand identity. Additionally, we took over their basic website maintenance to ensure the platform remained functional and user-friendly.

Our Approach

To ensure effective and seamless support, we integrated ourselves into The Brain Charity’s team as a strategic partner, acting as an extension of their in-house efforts. For 2.5 days each week, we collaborated closely with the team, not only contributing to content creation but also assisting with broader strategic marketing initiatives. This approach allowed us to maintain continuity in their communications, refine their outreach strategies, and help the charity achieve greater alignment with their long-term goals.

Understanding the value of impactful visual communication, we engaged our graphic designer on a retainer basis to revitalise their printed materials. The refreshed designs, including striking brochures and flyers, were tailored to reinforce the charity’s mission while resonating visually with their diverse audience. By combining creative design with strategic thinking, we ensured the materials were both engaging and aligned with the organisation’s brand identity.

Results

Our collaborative approach not only alleviated immediate resource constraints but also helped the team navigate their transitional period with confidence. Partnering with The Brain Charity allowed us to play a part in sustaining their vital work by providing hands-on marketing and design support. Together, we ensured their communications remained consistent, their materials reflected their values, and their digital presence continued to serve their community.
